Elevated Purpose Learning Community (EPLC) was birthed from a need of “more” in educational spaces. More options. More connection. More freedom. Elevated Purpose is a manifestation of educational justice. In the Central Florida/Orlando area, a narrative that the "good schools" are only in the "good neighborhoods" is notoriously perpetuated. These neighborhoods are expensive and almost homogeneous demographically. This marginalizes students of color to undesirable learning environments, whether as numerical minorities or as the majority in underfunded schools. Moreover, the economy makes "good neighborhoods" out of reach for most families regardless of racial background.

Elevated Purpose Learning Community will provide a safe, elegant, high-quality learning environment that is diverse and inclusive within the fourth-largest school district in Florida and eighth-largest district in the country. To support academic efforts, EPLC will partner with local postsecondary institutions to serve as a field experience site for aspiring teachers, subject area tutors to provide intervention and enrichment, and business owners to give students real-world experiences in areas of their interest. In addition to student-driven and culturally relevant academics, EPLC's offerings will include transportation for those in need, healthy and ethnically-varied food service, an afterschool program, and extracurricular opportunities.

Our mascot, the Sky Breaker, is a lion with wings and a gold crown inspired by the 2012 album “Collide with the Sky” by pop-punk band Pierce the Veil. According to lead singer and guitar player Vic Fuentes, "The theme to the album artwork is 'jumping off of the ground that is breaking beneath you.' The idea is to inspire hope amongst the chaos that may be happening around you. If the ground was breaking beneath your feet, your first reaction may be to run and jump to safety, and it's that moment where you are suspended in the air that I am focusing on. A still frame where you're not sure if the person is falling or flying. It's about freeing yourself from the things that are breaking or falling apart in your life, and inspiring a sense of hope from the desperation." May this message of elevation and hope reach the hearts, minds, and spirits of those in need of inspiration to jump.
